Red rot disease

Red rot disease
A disease of cultivated seaweed. The cells die due to the pathogen, and the name comes from the fact that the edges of the diseased areas turn a pale pink color. It occurs from late autumn to early winter, and damage is greatest during warm winters.

〘名〙 養殖中のノリの病気の一つ。病原菌によって細胞が死ぬもので、病患部の周縁が淡桃色に変色することからいう。晩秋から初冬にかけて発生し、暖冬のときなどに被害が多い。
