…In organisms in which the sexes are differentiated, one or more pairs of chromosomes that genetically control the determination and differentiation of sex are called sex chromosomes. These chromosomes were discovered in the spotted stink bug by HV Henking in 1891, but it was CEM McClung (1902), who studied the chromosomes of grasshoppers, who first pointed out that they play an important role in sex determination. Sex chromosomes differ in their staining and behavior from other autosomes, and in higher animals in particular, they exhibit abnormal condensation during the interphase and prophase of nuclear division. …
