Inscription: Printing a new denomination on a stamp to correct its value. Overprinting: Printing on a stamp as necessary in addition to inscription. In Japan, for example, the words commemorating the fall of Singapore were overprinted on regular stamps. Inscription plate: This refers to stamps with "Produced by the Ministry of Finance Printing Bureau" printed at the bottom of a sheet of Japanese stamps.
