Gundobad

The remaining Burgundians relocated to the area around Geneva as allies in 443 and rebuilt their kingdom. After capturing Lyon around 461, they expanded their power in both directions along the Rhône River, reaching their zenith under King Gundobad (reigned 480-516). However, Burgundian colonists in the kingdom were few in number and concentrated in a few specific areas, particularly in the French-speaking parts of Switzerland, the Jura region, and the Saône River basin. …
