This kind of resource nationalism (a movement by resource-rich countries to regain sovereignty over their resources and significantly improve their position in resource production or export) erupted during the oil crisis triggered by the Fourth Arab-Israeli War in October 1973, and stimulated by this success, it became active in other resources as well. For example, in 1974, major bauxite-producing countries established the International Bauxite Association (IBA, short for International Bauxite Association), and in the same year, the Caribbean countries of Jamaica, Dominica, and Guyana, where bauxite is mined by American and Canadian aluminum companies, significantly raised bauxite production taxes and nationalized mining companies. ...
