An old town in Isumi County, southeastern Chiba Prefecture. The city center is the junction of the Sotobo Line and the Isumi Railway, and is one of the commercial centers of the region. Ohara Fishing Port is the base for offshore fishing, and seafood processing is also thriving. Inland areas produce rice and other produce. There is Daisho-ji Temple, which houses Namikiri Fudo-do (an important cultural property), a swimming beach, and the coastal area is part of Minami-Boso Quasi-National Park. In December 2005, it merged with Isumi Town and Misaki Town in Isumi County to become a city, Isumi City. 66.61 km2 . Population 20,849 (2003).

A former town in Aida County, northeastern Okayama Prefecture. The main settlement, Ohara, was the mouth of a valley and during the feudal era, it was a post town on the Inaba Highway. Cattle (Awakura cattle) are raised and vegetables are grown in controlled conditions, and in recent years, the town has been attracting businesses. Miyamoto is the birthplace of Miyamoto Musashi. In March 2005, it was incorporated as a city by merging with Katsuta Town in Katsuta County, Mimasaka Town in Aida County, Sakuto Town, Aida Town, and Higashiawakura Village to form Mimasaka City. Area: 54.48 km2 . Population: 4,847 (2003).

岡山県北東部,英田(あいだ)郡の旧町。主集落大原は渓口集落で,藩政時代は因幡(いなば)街道の宿場町。牛(粟倉(あわくら)牛)の飼育,野菜の抑制栽培が行われ,近年は企業誘致も進む。宮本は宮本武蔵の生地。2005年3月勝田郡勝田町,英田郡美作町,作東町,英田町,東粟倉村と合併し市制,美作市となる。54.48km2。4847人(2003)。
