Mirror [town] - Kagami

Japanese: 鏡[町] - かがみ

A former town in Yatsushiro County, central Kumamoto Prefecture. Occupying the center of the Yatsushiro Plain, most of it is reclaimed land from the early modern period. Rice farming, greenhouse horticulture for vegetables, rush cultivation, and tatami surface manufacturing are thriving industries. It is the commercial center of northern Yatsushiro County, and has factories producing fertilizers, sewing, and other products. The Kagoshima Main Line runs through the eastern part of the town. In August 2005, it was incorporated into Yatsushiro City along with the towns of Sendaicho, Sakamoto, Toyo, and Izumi in Yatsushiro County. ^{28.24 km2} . Population: 16,432 (2003).
