Chemical fiber paper

Japanese: 化学繊維紙 - かがくせんいし

Also known as synthetic fiber paper. It is made by cutting chemical fibers such as rayon, nylon, vinylon, polyester, and acrylonitrile into 2-3mm pieces, adding dispersants and adhesives, and beating them on a regular papermaking machine. It is also called the "second paper," and polystyrene paper is a typical example. It generally has excellent breathability, dimensional stability, elasticity, abrasion resistance, water resistance, chemical resistance, and wrinkle resistance. Applications include cosmetic paper, paper for wiping lenses, filtration material for air filters and oil filters, paper for calendars and Christmas cards, electrical insulation, and disposable clothing (underwear, diapers, sanitary products). → Paper/Nonwoven fabric
