…It is a typical hydrophilic mucilage of plant origin, and in the narrow sense refers to the secretion of Acacia trees that grow in Northeast Africa. The most well-known is that extracted from Acacia senegal , an evergreen small tree in the Nile region. In addition to being extracted naturally from wounds in the bark, it is also extracted by artificially damaging the bark after the rainy season has ended.
