In Russia, the deeds of Andreas Salos became known when Christianity was officially accepted, but the first yuroziby is said to have been Isaak Zatvornik, a monk at the Kiev Monastery of the Caves in the second half of the 11th century. The tradition died out for a while after that, but the 16th century was the period when yuroziby activities were most prominent, and the name of Vasilii Blazhennyi (1469-1552) of Moscow is particularly well known.
