...A general term for arthropods belonging to the Schizomida order of the arachnid class. It was named after the protrusion at the end of its abdomen that resembles a lump of mugwort when sniffing. With a body length of 4-7 mm, it looks like a small spider at first glance, but it walks slowly and jumps quickly backwards when touched. It lives under fallen leaves or in caves and is carnivorous. There are 180 species in the tropics and subtropics, and in Japan, four species live in the Ryukyu Islands and the Ogasawara Islands.
