A legendary martyr from Rome in the 3rd century. Cecilia in Italian, Cecilia in English. A daughter of an aristocrat, she converted to Christianity at a young age, persuaded her pagan fiancé Valerian and his brother Tiburtius to be baptized, and dedicated her virginity to Christ. She refused to worship pagan idols, and was suffocated in her bath, but survived. Her neck was cut with a sword three more times, and she was finally martyred three days later.
