This museum is located northwest of Midan Ettahrir (Liberation Square) in the center of Cairo, the capital of Egypt. It was founded in 1851 and its first director was French archaeologist A. Mariette. It was originally located in Boulaq and called the Boulaq Museum. In 1902 it moved to its current location and changed its name to Cairo Museum. It has a collection of approximately 100,000 artifacts from Egyptian culture, from prehistoric times to the Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom, and Greco-Roman periods. The relics of Tutankhamun are particularly famous.

エジプトの首都カイロの中心部ミダン・エッタハリール（解放広場）の北西にある博物館。1851年設立，初代館長はフランスの考古学者A.マリエット。当初はブーラークにありブーラーク博物館と呼ばれた。1902年に現在の場所に移転，名称もカイロ博物館となる。先史時代から古王国，中王国，新王国，グレコ・ローマン期に至るエジプト文化の遺産約10万点を集める。ツタンカーメンの遺物は特に有名。
