Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit

...also called medium-scale integrated circuits, they were generally classified into LSI (100 to 1000 elements) and VLSI (1000 elements or more). Later, circuits with 100,000 or more transistors were called VLSI (very large scale integrated circuit, or ultra LSI), and circuits with less than VLSI came to be called LSI.
