Abbreviation for Vibration Compensation. Name of Tamron's image stabilization mechanism. It was first installed in the AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC (Model A20). It features a proprietary actuator. It is a "three-coil system" in which three driving coils electromagnetically drive the compensation lens (VC lens) via three steel balls. In other words, the VC lens for compensation only comes into contact with the balls, so there is little friction resistance and it achieves smooth movement. In addition, since it is basically only electrically controlled, it has the advantage of being able to make the unit compact and the lens itself smaller.
