Liquid level detector

...Also called a level gauge. A measuring instrument that measures the surface height of a liquid flowing in a tank or a pipe, or the height of the boundary surface between two immiscible liquids. There are cases where the purpose is to measure the volume of the liquid in a tank, and cases where the purpose is simply to measure the liquid level or the amount of liquid stored in the tank. For the former purpose, the relationship between the liquid level and the volume must be known in advance through calibration. The most basic methods for detecting the liquid level include the point gauge, which lowers a scale from a fixed point on the top of the tank and determines the liquid level from the scale reading when the tip touches the liquid level, the hook gauge, and the depth gauge, which attaches a weight to a wire, lowers it to the bottom of the tank, and reads the length of the part that touches the liquid after being pulled up. ...

…液面計ともいう。タンク内や管路を流れる液体の表面の高さ，あるいは混合しない2種の液体の境界面の高さを測る測定器。タンク内の液体の体積の測定を目的とする場合と単に液面の高さやタンク内の液体の貯蔵量の多少を測る場合があり，前者の目的に対しては液面の高さと体積の関係が校正によってあらかじめわかっていなければならない。液面の検出方法としてもっとも基本的な方法は，タンク上部の固定点からスケール(ものさし)をおろし先端が液面にふれたときのスケールの読みから液面の高さを求めるポイントゲージ，フックゲージ，ワイヤに重りをつけてタンク底部までおろし，ひきあげた後に液体にふれた部分の長さを読むデプスゲージがある。…
