Osen Rolling

This sea cliff is located on the Sotobo coast at the southwestern end of Katsuura City in southern Chiba Prefecture. It is a cliff area at the eastern end of the Kiyosumi mountain range that makes up the Boso Hills. The coast is about 50 meters high and the reef continues, creating a magnificent sea-eroded landscape. There are various legends about a dutiful girl named Osen who was unable to change her father's evil deeds and threw herself into the sea, or who fell into a gust of wind while cutting grass, as well as a tragic love story. There is a grave and monument for her. It is about a 7-minute walk from Namegawa Island Station on the JR Sotobo Line.

千葉県南部、勝浦市(かつうらし)南西端の外房海岸(そとぼうかいがん)にある海食崖(がい)。房総丘陵を構成する清澄(きよすみ)山地の東端にあたる断崖地帯である。高さ約50メートルの海岸には岩礁が続き雄大な海食景観をなす。昔おせんという孝行娘が父親の悪業を改心させえず海に身を投じたとか、草を刈っていて突風で落ちたとか、さらに悲恋にまつわる伝説などがあり、その墓と碑がある。JR外房線行川(なめがわ)アイランド駅から徒歩約7分。
