Lyophilic colloid

...the concept of macromolecules or polymers was born in the process of elucidating the structure of colloidal particles. Colloids in which hydrophilic polymers are dispersed in water are very stable and do not coagulate even when a small amount of electrolyte is added. They are called hydrophilic colloids, or lyophilic colloids in general.
