Chen Jitang - Chin Saitang

Japanese: 陳済棠 - ちんさいとう

1890‐1954
One of the leaders of the Guangdong warlords in China. His courtesy name was Bonan. He was from Fangcheng County, Guangdong Province (now Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region). He built up his power in Guangdong during the Northern Expedition, when he was in charge of protecting Guangdong. During the Chinese Civil War, he consistently took an anti-Communist stance, and actively participated in the siege and attack on the Hailufeng-Suwei'ei (Soviet) area, but he often fought against Chiang Kai-shek by allied with the Guangxi warlords or Wang Jingwei (the Jingwei). In 1936, together with Li Zongren and others, he established military committees in Guangdong and Guangxi under the banner of anti-Japanese sentiment, and became chairman himself, but he resigned after failing.

中国，広東軍閥の指導者の一人。字は伯南。広東省防城県(現，広西チワン族自治区)の人。北伐の時期に広東の守護に当たって広東に勢力を築いた。国共内戦では一貫して反共の立場をとり，海陸豊蘇維埃(ソビエト)地区への包囲攻撃に積極的に加わったが，広西軍閥あるいは汪兆銘(精衛)と結んで蔣介石としばしば抗争した。1936年，李宗仁らと抗日を掲げて両広に軍事委員会をつくり，みずから委員長となるが，失敗して下野した。
