Mauges

…Located in the basin of the Loire and its tributaries, the Maine, the Sarthe, and the Le Loire, the region is known for its salmon and arose fisheries, and also for its warm climate, which allows it to cultivate vegetables, fruits, and flowers, and to raise livestock, especially cattle. The western region, which is part of the Armour massif, is called Anjou noir (black Anjou), and consists of the Ségréen region on the north bank of the Loire, known for its slate schist and livestock farming, and the Mauges region on the south bank, known for livestock farming, flax, and cotton textiles. The eastern region, which is part of the Paris Basin, is called Anjou blanc (white Anjou), and is divided into the Bougeois region, a forested area on the north bank of the Loire, and the Saumurois region on the south bank, where grapes and mushrooms are cultivated.
