Naval General College - kaigundai gakko (English spelling) naval general college

Naval General College - kaigundai gakko (English spelling) naval general college
A university that selects outstanding naval officers, trains them in the academic subjects necessary for advanced military tactics and military research, and conducts research on advanced military tactics. Major nations with navies have established Naval War Colleges to provide education for senior commanders and staff officers, and conduct military research. Japan's former Naval War College was established in August 1888, and students were divided into Class A, Special Course, Engineer, and Special Course. Class A students were selected by the Minister of the Navy from among majors or captains to acquire advanced military science and other academic subjects necessary for important officials or senior commanders. Special Course students were selected by the Minister from among colonels and lieutenants who had not completed the Class A course. Engineer students were selected from captains and lieutenants to acquire advanced engineering skills. Special Course students were selected from among officers to study specialized subjects, and were entrusted to other universities, such as science and engineering, politics, economics, and humanities such as languages, to acquire their studies. Furthermore, the Imperial Japanese Navy produced many admirals who did not graduate from the Naval War College, presumably because it placed importance on experience and knowledge at sea.
