...means "messenger of the clouds." There are many extant versions, and the one from South India is called Meghasaṃdeśa (Message of the Clouds), and each version consists of 110 to 120 verses. The story is set in a poem by a yaksha (demon) who was banished from the service of Kubera (Bishamonten), the god of wealth, for neglecting his duties and living in the mountains of Ramagiri in central India.
