...The other theory of the origin of the ice age is astronomical, and is also difficult to verify, as it is due to (1) fluctuations in solar activity, and (2) the Earth passing through a space with a high concentration of cosmic dust, which increased the shielding effect. The most likely theory at present is the one proposed by Milankovitch M., who, with the opinion of W. Köppen, believes that the cause is the decrease in solar radiation in the summer six months. According to this hypothesis, the change in solar radiation is caused by a combination of the following three factors:
