Minor parties

However, what has been attracting attention since the latter half of the 1970s is the trend toward a lack of political parties among the public. While the two major parties attempt to comprehensively represent a diversity of interests, third parties, or minor parties, are parties that represent specific interests and positions that cannot be encompassed within the framework of the two major parties. Third parties express heterogeneity in contrast to the homogeneity of the Democratic and Republican parties, and clarity in contrast to ambiguity.
