Warm disease - Unbyo

Japanese: 温病 - うんびょう

It is one of the names of diseases in Chinese medicine, and is a general term for various acute febrile infectious diseases, but its content has not necessarily remained the same throughout the ages. The terms plague (on'eki) and celestial disease are also used with roughly the same meaning, and were believed to be caused by external evils. Although typhoid fever is also a type of infectious disease, it is not included in the category of warm diseases. The concept of warm diseases was established in the Ming dynasty by Wang Lu's "Ikei Sukui Ji" (Collection of the Medical Classic) and Wu Youxing's "Lun of Warm Epidemics." [Akahori Akira]

中国医学の病名の一つで，種々の発熱性急性伝染病の総称であるが，その内容は時代によって必ずしも同じではない。瘟疫（おんえき）とか天行病という語もほぼ同じ意味に用いられていて，外邪によって起こされるとされていた。傷寒も一種の伝染病であるが，温病には含まれない。温病の概念は明代の王履の《医経溯洄集》，呉有性の《温疫論》により確立された。【赤堀昭】
