…Italian violinist and composer. Tartini's first pupil. After a successful career in Stuttgart, he served as conductor at the Tuscan court in Florence from 1769. Known for beautiful melodies, an expressive and elegant style, and virtuoso technique, his works include concertos, sonatas, duets, and solo pieces for violin, as well as string quartets and chamber music. In his sonatas, he follows his teacher's three-movement form with a slow, fast and fast tempo, but the expanded second movement is closer to the classical sonata form. …
