Ashkenazim Jews in Eastern Europe, especially in Poland and Ukraine, developed Jewish mysticism (Hassidism) in the mid-18th century, and along with it, they created the rhythmic folk religious hymn Niggun and its dance, which was an improvised vowel singing style rich in Slavic nuances.
