On-off control - On-off control

Japanese: オン･オフ制御 - オンオフせいぎょ（英語表記）on‐off control

It is a feedback control method that selects whether to maintain the operation of the operating unit at a constant level (on) or stop it (off) based on the moment-to-moment measurement of the controlled variable. The temperature control of an electric kotatsu is a typical example of on-off control; the heater is turned on while the ambient temperature is lower than the target value and turned off when the ambient temperature rises and exceeds the target value. Room temperature control using air conditioners is also often on-off control. On-off control is the simplest and most economical control method because it can be achieved with just a switch operation, but the disadvantage is that it is difficult to maintain the controlled variable at the target value.

操作部の運転を一定レベルで持続するか(オン)，それとも停止するか(オフ)のいずれかを，制御量の時々刻々の計測値に応じて選定するフィードバック制御の方式である。環境温度が目標値よりも低い間はヒーターが入り，環境温度が上昇して目標値を超えるとヒーターが切れる電気こたつの温度制御は，オン･オフ制御の典型的な例である。クーラーによる室温制御もオン･オフ制御が多い。オン･オフ制御はスイッチ動作だけで実現できるので，最も簡単で経済的な制御方式であるが，制御量を目標値に保つことが困難なのが欠点である。
