This law was discovered in 1952 by American R. Whitcomb. The air resistance of an airplane traveling at transonic speeds is equal to the air resistance of a rotating body of the same cross-sectional area as the distribution of the cross-sectional area of the whole airplane cut perpendicular to the airflow. Based on this law, the shape of the fuselage was determined to include the wings and other parts protruding from the fuselage, and the design of supersonic aircraft made great strides. → Related topics Sound barriers | Drag Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
