Orphisme

Japanese: Orphisme
Orphisme

On the basis of this foundation that had been prepared from the end of the 19th century to the turn of the 21st century, abstract art began to appear in various forms around the time of World War I. First, abstract art was shaped by movements such as Kandinsky's attempts from around 1910, when he was in Munich at the time, the decomposition, analysis, and synthesis of the depicted subject in Cubism, the musical and poetic abstraction of Orphisme by R. Delaunay, Picabia, F. Kupka and others that branched off from Cubism, and Suprematism, Malevich's attempt at pure geometric abstraction. Next, abstract art spread rapidly in the Netherlands with the rise of Neoplasticism, De Stijl (a movement that covered painting, sculpture, design, architecture, and other fields, led by Mondrian and his supporters Van Doesburg (who published a magazine of the same name from 1917), and after the revolution, Russian Constructivism (with Tatlin, Lissitzky, Gabo, Pevsner, Rodchenko, and others), which also expanded into various fields. Between the two world wars, abstract art became a major movement on a par with Surrealism, and by the 1930s it was already showing signs of becoming stale and academic.
