Indian summer

Indian summer
It refers to a unique period in autumn or early winter when the weather is sunny, hot during the day, and cold at night. It is a term most frequently used in the New England region of eastern North America, but is now used in English-speaking countries and roughly corresponds to the Japanese "Koharubiyori." Its history of use dates back to 1778, but its origin is unclear. One theory is that it comes from the American Indian custom of storing crops for the winter during this period.
