Around 1605-80 A Russian aristocrat and diplomat. Born into a noble family in Pskov, he later demonstrated outstanding diplomatic skills, became head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and was ranked as an aristocrat. Furthermore, as a collaborator of Tsar Alexei Romanov, he promoted reforms such as the introduction of conscription and the establishment of new commercial regulations.
