Aldermaston

Japanese: オルダーマストン（英語表記）Aldermaston

A village in central Berkshire, southern England, the United Kingdom. The name comes from "the town of ealdormann (a local nobleman)". Population 533 (1971). Located in the valley of the River Kennet, a tributary of the Thames, it is known as the location of the nuclear weapons laboratory. The surrounding area is home to the Boroughfield Ordnance Factory and the US military base at Greenham Common, and is often the site of anti-nuclear movements in the UK. In Silchester, south of the village, there are Roman ruins, including an enclosure wall and an amphitheater, which have been excavated.
