Year of death: February 14, 1655 (March 21, 1655) Year of birth: Tensho 4 (1576) A feudal lord in the early Edo period. The first lord of the Ogaki Domain in Mino Province (Gifu Prefecture). His father was Ichinishi, the lord of Zeze Castle in Omi (Shiga Prefecture), and his mother was the daughter of Maki Ujitsune. He was born in Futatsugi, Mikawa Province (Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture). He had the names Shinjiro, Samon, and Uneme-no-sho. His pen name was Jōkan. He served Tokugawa Ieyasu from around 1589 (Tenshō 17), and participated in the Eastern Army in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 (Keichō 5). In 1604, he inherited his father's estate of Zeze Domain. In July 1616 (Genna 2), he was transferred to the Amagasaki Domain in Settsu with a fief of 50,000 koku. He was then transferred to the Ogaki Domain in Mino with a fief of 100,000 koku in 1635 (Kan'ei 12). In the Shimabara Rebellion in 1614, he fought alongside Matsudaira Nobutsuna and helped put an end to the rebellion. He retired from service in 1651 (Keian 4). He died in Ogaki Castle. He is said to have been a man who encouraged the development of new fields, consolidated the foundations of the domain government, contributed to the promotion of education, and built the foundations of Mino culture.
