Panchromatic film

...When a photosensitive material is sensitive to light in the near ultraviolet to yellow wavelength range, it is called orthochromatic, or simply ortho, and such a film is called orthochromatic film. When it is sensitive to red light, it is called panchromatic, and such a film is called panchromatic film. Other factors that govern the quality of an image recorded on film include the clarity of the details of the photographic image (resolution, sharpness, graininess), push-developability (the ability to form an image of appropriate density during development even with insufficient exposure), and color reproduction in color photography.
