...This is the most common type of snakefly, found widely in the forest fringes of low mountain areas from the southern tip of Hokkaido to Kyushu. Snakefly is also the general name for the family Panorpidae, also known as macropterans. There are about 200 known species in the world, and more than 40 species have been recorded in Japan.
