When a thermal leaves the ground and rises, the temperature drops at a rate of 1 degree per 100 meters (0.976℃ to be exact) before it becomes a cloud. This rate is called the dry adiabatic lapse rate. This rate is constant regardless of location on Earth or temperature or pressure. source About the Paragliding Glossary Information |
