Pargasite

...(2) is the group with the most diverse chemical composition among the amphibole group. Representative examples include actinocene, which contains almost no Na or Al, pargasite, which has a basic chemical composition of NaCa ₂ (Mg,Fe ^2＋ ) ₃ Al ₅ Si ₅ O ₂₂ (OH) ₂ with some of the Mg and Fe ^2＋ replaced with Mn and some of the Al replaced with Mg, Fe ^2＋ , Fe ^3＋ , etc., tschermakite, which has a basic chemical composition of Ca ₂ (Mg,Fe ^2＋ ) ₃ Al ₄ Si ₆ O ₂₂ (OH) ₂ with some of the Al replaced with other ions like pargasite, edenite, which has a chemical composition of NaCa ₂ (Mg,Fe ^2＋ ) ₅ AlSi ₇ O ₂₂ (OH) ₂ , and hornblende, which has an intermediate chemical composition between them. It is usually dark green to dark brown and occurs as columnar to fibrous aggregates.
