Pedicure

Japanese: pedicure
Pedicure

...There are also specialized types of nail polish, such as a base coat applied first to improve the adhesion of nail enamel, a top coat applied last to increase the hardness and shine of the enamel, and nail bleach to bleach stains such as tobacco and ink. Also, applying nail polish to toenails is called pedicure, and nail enamel (nail lacquer) is commonly referred to as manicure. There are records that manicures were done at beauty salons called hammams in medieval Europe, but this involved applying nail cream and other products to care for the nails. Nail enamel made with nitrocellulose as we know it only became popular in the 1920s.
