...There are no wild species in Japan, but more than 10 species have become naturalized. Among them, four species, A. retroflexus L. (English name pigweed), A. patulus Bertoloui (illustration), A. viridis L. (A. viridus), and A. lividus L. (illustration), are widespread throughout Japan and are commonly found in wastelands in urban areas. These four species are said to be native to tropical America, but are now widespread worldwide, and their original distribution ranges are not known exactly.
