…His Amalienburg at Nymphenburg Palace (1734-39) and the Hofstheater in Munich (1750-53), along with D. Zimmermann's Pilgrimage Church of Wies (1746-54), are masterpieces of the late Baroque and Rococo style. At the same time, Knobelsdorff was involved in the construction of Sanssouci Palace (1744-47) in Potsdam, and Matthias Daniel Pöppelmann (1662-1736) completed the Zwinger Palace (1711-22) in Dresden. These buildings were filled with stucco sculptures and decorations as well as frescoes, and were a manifestation of a great synthesis of art. …

...The early architects were J.B. Fischer von Erlach and J. Plantauer, who designed the Cathedral of St. Karl Borromeus in Vienna (1716), followed by J.L. von Hildebrand and Paul Decker (1677-1713). In the field of imperial architecture, there are works such as the Zwinger Palace (1711-28) built by Matthias Pöppelmann (1662-1736) of Saxony, and the Belvedere Palace (1712-1720) by Hildebrand. The great staircase design, which originated in Italy, created the most fantastical world in the Germanic cultural sphere. Spanish Baroque differed greatly from region to region, but it was generally characterized by a tendency toward extravagant decoration, which reached its peak in the Castilian period under José-Benito de Churriguera (1665-1725) and the Churriguera family.
