1901‐92 Soviet puppet theater director, actor, and writer. Son of the famous railway scholar VN Obraztsov (1874-1949). Initially studied painting at art school, and while still a student he began acting at the Moscow Art Theater Music Studio (renamed the Danchenko Musical Theater in 1926) in 1918, and at the Second Moscow Art Theater from 1930 to 1936. At the same time, he began performing puppet shows in 1920, and in 1931 founded the Puppet Theater attached to the Children's Artistic Education House in Moscow, which performed in various places and received acclaim.
