...Many are used medicinally, such as castor bean, known as a laxative. The latex of Euphorbia resinifera in northwest Africa is called gum euphorbia and was used as a treatment for angina pectoris. Some are highly valued for their horticultural qualities due to their unusual shapes and beautiful bracts. Castor bean, Euphorbia mundi, Snowdrop, and Poinsettia are cultivated.
