An industrial and agricultural state in the United States, south of Lake Erie and north of the Ohio River. Abbreviated as O. or OH. It consists of plains and hills. It belongs to the Corn Belt, and its main agricultural products are corn, wheat, oats, soybeans, and tomatoes. It also produces wool. It also produces minerals such as coal, gravel, limestone, rock salt, oil, and natural gas. In industry, it produces tires, automobiles, aircraft, steel, and electrical equipment in large quantities. In the 1680s, American and French fur traders settled there. After the French and Indian War, it became a British colony in 1763. After the Revolutionary War, it became a U.S. territory, and joined the Union in 1803. It has produced five presidents, including McKinley, Taft, and Harding. The state capital is Columbus. The largest city is Cleveland, with an area of 105,829 ^km2 . It has a population of 11,594,163 (2014).
