Demon King Danzaburou - Onioudou Zaburou

Japanese: 鬼王･団三郎 - おにおうどうざぶろう

The brothers Danzaburou and Onio are known as servants of Soga Juro and Goro. However, Onio and Danzaburou are names used in Noh and Kabuki plays about Soga, and in the Tale of Soga they are Oniomaru and Tanzaburou (manabon), and Onio and Dozaburou (kanabon). The Tale of Soga states that they served the Soga brothers from childhood and followed them at all times, but they do not actually appear in the story until the latter half, and there are some suspicious points about their appearance. Onio and Danzaburou accompanied the Soga brothers on their way to the hunting grounds of Fuji to avenge their deaths, and were responsible for delivering the brothers' mementos to the village of Soga, as well as informing them of the brothers' final moments.

団三郎･鬼王の兄弟は，曾我十郎･五郎の従者として知られている。ただし，鬼王･団三郎は能や歌舞伎の曾我物での呼称であり，《曾我物語》では鬼王丸･丹三郎(真名本)，鬼王･道三郎(仮名本)である。幼少のころより曾我兄弟に仕え，片時も離れず付き従っていたと《曾我物語》にあるが，実際に物語中に登場するのは後半になってからのことであり，2人の登場には不審な点がある。鬼王･団三郎は，富士の狩場へ仇討に向かう曾我兄弟に同行し，兄弟の形見を曾我の里へ届けると同時に，兄弟の最期のありさまを知らせる役目をも担っていた。
