According to the legend of Osumi Masahachiman (Kagoshima Shrine) in Kyushu, a Tang princess, Ohirume, had a dream at the age of seven in which she received the morning sun on her chest and became pregnant. The princess, who was cast away in a Utsubo-bune boat, ended up in Osumi Province, where her child was worshipped as Hachiman and the princess as the Holy Bodhisattva. Furthermore, going back in time, the Taikoki explains that Toyotomi Hideyoshi was named Hiyoshimaru because he was born with the sun in his mother's arms.
