...The Romany language has been mixed with regional words and has become heavily dialectalized, and there are many folk tales handed down through tradition, but some of them cannot be said to be purely Gypsy. An event common to all Gypsies is the festival of Sarah, their black guardian goddess, held every May in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer in southern France.
