...Because of its political insignificance, Islamization was the latest among the former Sassanid territories, and it maintained its independence until the mid-8th century, more than a century after the Arab conquest of the rest of the country. During the late Abbasid period, its capital was Āmol, and under the Tahirid dynasty, Sāri.
