...Some species can reach a length of 30 cm, some live in symbiosis with sea urchins and eat their tube feet, and some live in freshwater away from the sea. The miniature stingray Aspasma (illustration) is 6 cm long and is found on the Pacific coast from Chiba Prefecture westward to Okinawa. Its body color can vary widely from dark brown to pale yellow depending on its surroundings, and sometimes it has spots on its fins and body.
