When we talk about German culture in a broad sense, Austrian culture is also included. In particular, when it comes to music, Austria played an extremely large role. Vienna is the musical capital that gave birth to Schubert and Johann Strauss and his son, as well as the music of the Viennese classical period, represented by the three great masters Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. The importance of Austrian music is clear even from these names. Geographically, Austria, as distinguished from Germany, emphasizes the elements of the south in relation to the north, and the east in relation to the west (Rhineland), as shown by the current location of the republic. It borders Italy to the south and Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and other Eastern European countries to the east, making it a place of rich cultural exchange.
